The May 2011 General Assembly of the Members of our Association awarded Lucjan Myrta their highest statutory title of Honorary Member and title of the Amber Personality of the Year 2011.

Lucjan Myrta is one of the founding members of the IAA and was the Vice-president of the Board in its first term. No contemporary amber craftsperson, in poland or elsewhere, is more deserving of the honour. His personal talent and more than 40 years of tireless work have allowed Mr Myrta to master the intricacies of amber handicraft to a degree equal to that of the celebrated guild masters of the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. And it was precisely the works of these masters that gave amber its high social standing. The magnificent coffers, altars and reliquaries of the time performed the role of diplomatic gifts exchanged between monarchs.

Lucjan Myrta was the first amber craftsman to receive received the honourable medal of Gloria Artis from poland’s Minister of culture and National Heritage.
