This year’s edition of the honourable title of the Amber Personality of the Year 2017 had the following nominees (in alphabetical order): Agnieszka Klikowicz-Kosior, Andrzej Kupniewski, Aniela Matuszewska, Jacek Szwedo and Marcin Tymiński. The second round of voting shortlisted two Candidates: Dr Aniela Matuszewska Ph.D., D.Sc. (University of Silesia) and Dr Jacek Szwedo Ph.D., D.Sc., Prof. Extraord. UG (University of Gdańsk).

The unquestionable scientific authority and achievements in various aspects of amber research, along with the overall activity for the amber community of both candidates, have made choosing just one person extremely difficult. Nevertheless, in the final vote, the Award Committee decided to award the title of the Amber Personality of the Year 2017 to Dr Jacek Szwedo Ph.D., D.Sc., UG Professor.
