"Designing Jewellery" – A New Exhibition at the IAA Gallery!

2026-08-04

How is contemporary jewellery created? Does it begin with the material, inspiration, or perhaps… with an analysis of the user's needs?

The exhibition "Designing Jewellery" presents works by students and graduates of the Experimental Design Studio at the Faculty of Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
It offers a unique opportunity to discover how design methods used in creating furniture, products, and means of transport are translated into the creation of original jewellery.

The exhibited works combine traditional jewellery-making techniques with modern technologies such as 3D modelling, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, scanning, and parametric design. Here, craftsmanship and innovation do not compete—they complement one another, opening up new creative possibilities.

Each piece on display is the result of its creator's individual exploration, demonstrating that contemporary jewellery can be not only a form of artistic expression but also a reflection of functional thinking,
experimentation, and exceptional craftsmanship.

The exhibited works were developed under the guidance of Professor Sławomir Fijałkowski and Zuzanna Franczak, MA,
combining the knowledge of traditional jewellery craftsmanship with the opportunities offered by contemporary technologies.

We warmly invite you to visit the IAA Gallery and discover the exhibition for yourself!
