“From Cosmic Origins to Human Choices” — a solo exhibition by Julia Groos

We warmly invite you to the opening of a solo exhibition by Julia Groos, a German artist whose work offers a profound reflection on the history of the universe and the pressing challenges facing humanity today. The exhibition, “From Cosmic Origins to Human Choices,” is a narrative journey through the story of our planet, the evolution of life, and the human responsibility for its future.

This jewellery collection takes you on a journey through parts of the universe to our present day. It begins with the Milky Way, moves through our solar system to Earth's volcanic beginnings, the formation of oceans and the evolution of life.
The collection further explores the Eocene epoch—the cradle of Baltic amber—through pieces incorporating amber and wood, capturing a time of rich forests and diverse life forms. As the timeline reaches the present day—the Anthropocene—three key pieces examine humanity's impact and choices.
Mickey Mouse, once the eternal optimist and symbol of hope who "always wins in the end," emerges as a corrupted idol —no longer the innocent bearer of dreams, he embodies how the pursuit of power and wealth drives humanity toward destruction and manipulation, resulting in unequal and unjust systems.
In stark contrast, an open heart expresses humanity's capacity for love, compassion, and transformation. It speaks to our potential for justice, equality, and genuine care for one another and our planet.
Finally, a rocket ship depicts the fantasy that a privileged few can escape to Mars after rendering Earth uninhabitable. This vessel symbolizes the delusion that we can abandon our planet rather than protect it.
Which path will we choose?
