Exhibition of Polish Amber Culture and Art "Instant And Eternity – Chwila i Wieczność".
From April 30 to August 1, 2024, the fourth edition of the "Beauty frozen in time" exhibition can be admired at the National Museum in Tianjin.
Due to the enormous interest, it is possible to extend the exhibition until the end of August, which will allow even more visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of amber. The exhibition was organized by Tianjin National Museum, Yunnan Provincial Branch National Museum and Seba Amber.
The curators of the exhibition are Sebastian Tajl, Jack Yang and Yao Yang. The event was supported by numerous institutions, including: The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, the Polish Institute in Beijing and the Earth Museum of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
Media outlets such as China News and Xinhuanet widely reported on the grand opening, which featured a ballet illustrating the history of amber's creation.
The opening ceremony attracted crowds and was widely covered in the media. The special guest was Marta de Zuniga, Director of the Polish Institute in Beijing, who, together with Joanna Kułakowska-Kumoch, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, added a unique exhibit to the exhibition - a traditional kroszonka with images of the Giant Panda and the Polish Bison.
The exhibition is accompanied by numerous lectures and workshops for children and teenagers, introducing the topic of amber. The Night of Museums in Tianjin was honored by a violin concert, which was so popular that further editions are planned. What Will We See at the Exhibition?
The exhibition presents approximately 600 unique exhibits - from jewelry to sculptures, mostly made by 75 renowned Polish artists. The exhibition shows the evolution of Polish amber jewelry from the 1970s to today. Particularly interesting for history lovers is the section devoted to inclusions - evidence of life from over 40 million years ago, and the recreated amber workshop from the Middle Ages. The exhibition also introduces the charm of Gdańsk, a city called the World Capital of Amber, and the impressive collection of amber works gathered in the Malbork Castle Museum. The last section of the exhibition is devoted to the relationship between amber jewelry and the world of fashion, including: by presenting the dress for Miss Polonia from 2016.
