We cordially invite you to a lecture by Dr. Michał Myśliński - curator of the exhibition "From idea to industry. Jewelry of the Polish People's Republic", which will take place on February 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the MSB Gallery.

The lecture accompanies the exhibition "From idea to industry. Jewelry of the Polish People's Republic" organized by the YES Gallery. The jewelry presented at the exhibition comes from the collection of Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz.

"Polish jewelry of the Polish People's Republic - design, production and myths"

The basis of the lecture will be the works exhibited in the MSB Gallery, which are part of the rich Collection of Contemporary Polish Goldsmith Art by Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz. The collected works - both goldsmith and jewelry works, as well as those that are more often associated with the production of craft workshops - will allow us to present three important issues: the development of design in this field of art in the years 1945-1989; artistic changes taking place at that time - along with their causes; refer to quite popular myths today, e.g. about the supposedly easy and unrestricted availability of such jewelry in Poland at that time.

Michał Myśliński - art historian, since 2001 employed at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Author of books and articles on artistic crafts,
devoted primarily to the issues of Polish and Krakow goldsmithery and material culture of the 19th and 20th centuries;
enthusiast and researcher of design and production of Polish goldsmithery and the so-called applied art created after 1945.
